Science

“Science may set limits to knowledge, but should not set limits to imagination.” Bertrand Russell

At The Pochin School, our Science curriculum is aimed at increasing childrens’ knowledge and understanding of our world, and with developing skills associated with Science that allow children to explore the world around them. Our Science teaching offers opportunities for children to develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific topics covered.

Developing Scientific Enquiry

At The Pochin School, we understand the importance of developing scientific enquiry.  We want our children to ask questions and be inquisitive about the world around them.  In our Science lessons, we aim to include a range of practical activities.

The children designed their own investigation on shadows in our light topic.  We looked at how shadows changed throughout the day!

For our topic on rocks, the children tested permeability and durability of rocks as well as made their own fossils and compost bins – look at the wiggly worms!
